Released on: Nintendo DS.

Our all time favorite plumber started out in the platform game, Donkey Kong, in 1981, and became popular with the release of Super Mario Bros. in 1985.  Mario has gone through a lot of changes through the years, making a transition from the 2D platformer  that made it popular, to other genres like puzzle games, RPGs, racing, and gone through huge graphic changes, including 3D models and environments.

But after more than 2 decades of change, Mario comes back to the origins that made him so popular in the first place, back to a 2D side-scrolling adventure for the Nintendo DS. Yes, the classic adventure is back, saving princess peach, moving through different, worlds, stomping those goombas and collecting gold coins on the way. But of course, there are also a couple of features worthy of the “new” title.

First to notice is that even if it is back to the 2D environment, the character models are rendered in 3D look, and with this combination, the game is looking gorgeous.

Mario now has a few new tricks up his sleeve, now able to perform some new moves such as wall jumping.

In addition to the existing power-ups, New Super Mario Bros. has some new ones adding a new way to take on the enemies.

This game includes a few good mini-games to add in to the fun.

After everything Super Mario Bros. has been through, it was quite a surprise to see them back in this classic setting, but the game is amazing! The New Super Mario Bros. captures the good old times in a new and exciting way. For that reason alone, gamers will love this title.
